Day 13: Data Challenge Natural Earth – Roads of the World
For day 13 of my mapping challenge, I needed to incorporate data from Natural Earth, a public domain dataset that contains a trove of physical, cultural and raster geographic features data. This data is available for free at 1:10 million, 1:50 million and 1:110 million map scales. The sheer variety of data subjects that this site provides made the decision on what to map difficult.
After taking my time perusing the site’s various data layers, I settled on the global Roads layer. While this data doesn’t contain all the world’s roadways, it is still fairly robust and was interesting to explore. Below is my map.
