Day 30: Meta Mapping Day

Meta Mapping Day

Today marks day 30 of my #30DayMapChallenge. As this challenge comes to an end, I am taking time to reflect on the time and work that I have invested over this past month and taking stock of all that I have learned. This process has been an excellent exercise in just going for something that I am passionate about and overall, I am happy that I did it. In the other areas of my life, as a dad to a energetic and loving toddler, and someone fortunate to be employed in state government doing GIS work, while also dealing with all of the other obligations and challenges from living in pandemic that we all share, getting a new map and accompanying blog post out every day was difficult at times, and there were days where I wasn’t sure if would be able to publish anything. Some maps I made a few weeks ahead of time, but most of them were made a day or two before publication. I was surprised by what I was able to do.

This challenge has stretched and honed my creative abilities and has helped me become a better, if more humble, mapmaker. I sincerely appreciate all the feedback folks have given me throughout this process in posts and engagement and I am thankful for being able to share my maps with you!

Thank you for following along and supporting my mapping journey. I am excited about what comes next. I am eagerly awaiting 2022’s #30DayMapChallenge and between now and then, I will be posting new maps, tutorials to share what I know with others, and other geospatial adjacent content. Stay tuned for more.
